StayClean System Questions

Q
Does the system affect beer fobbing?
A
Beer fobbing can have many causes; from the incorrect beer temperatures through to a gas leak in the system. Fobbing can also be caused by poor line cleaning procedures. If this is the case then installing the StayClean system can help prevent beer fobbing.
Q
Does the system still work in bars that are not used daily?
A
Generally speaking the system works when the bar is not in daily use. However we do recommend that approximately 1/4 of a pint is pulled off every-other-day, to ensure good quality beer.
Q
Does the system need servicing?
A
No, generally speaking the StayClean system does not require servicing at regular intervals. Occasionally customers inform us that the system is not working as well and in 99% of these cases the problem is resolved by simply replacing the power supply lead. StayClean will attend your venue whatever the reason, during the 5 year guarantee period.
Q
Do I need any kind of special beerline cleaner?
A
No. The StayClean System works regardless of which kind of cleaning solution you use. Afterall, you are the one who knows your beer pipes best.

Installation Questions

Q
How long does the StayClean System take to fit?
A
The StayClean System takes approximately 3 hours to fit, although this may be longer dependng on the number of kegs. We try to ensure the system is installed on the day you have cleaned your lines, to ensure optimal performance. The bar / cellar can be fully operational throughout, as we do not replace any parts of your beerline system.
Q
When installing the system, do you replace any parts of the beer lines?
A
No, we do not dismantle or manipulate any part of the coupling or python system.
Q
Does having the system installed have any impact on my insurance?
A
No, any insurance is still valid as we do not modify or alter any part of the existing cellar set up.

Payment & Ownership Questions

Q
Are there any other ‘hidden’ costs – such as installation costs?
A
No, the quoted price includes all costs, including installation and repair if neccessary.
Q
Once the system is paid for do I own it outright? In which case what happens if it breaks down?
A
Yes, on completion of payment, the customer owns the StayClean System. The system is guaranteed for 5 years and the warranty includes all parts and repair, subject to normal usage.
Is a StayClean system expensive to run?

At current rates for electricity, we have calculated the ongoing costs of running one StayClean device (which treats up to 4 beer lines) to be less than £12.00 per year.

How long can we go between beer line cleans?

The vast majority of our customers achieve 4 weeks between lines cleans. Some customers, who run a really tight cellar with excellent cooling and beer conditioning can achieve 6 weeks, or even longer. The trick is to keep an eye on the pour and aim to clean a few days before the slowed-down accumulation of yeasts and proteins affect the taste of your pints.

How much can I save?

Savings are dependant upon the specifics of your bar and cellar set-up. As a rough guide, a bar with 8 products and 2 pint lines can usually expect to save over £2,000 per year on beer at retail price. To find out how much you could save, try our savings calculator, or give us a call on 01684 636261.

Will it affect the taste of the beers I serve?

Absolutely not. The StayClean equipment never comes in to direct contact with your beer, so it cannot affect the flavour of the pints you serve.

Can we still clean the beer lines ourselves, or do we need to outsource?

When your lines do need cleaning, you simply follow your standard process. We recommend that you use good quality line cleaner and suggest a deep clean of the dispense system every 6-12 months, using Protinate or another brand of strong / deep cleaning solution. This deep clean ensures that build-ups cannot take root in difficult to reach areas of the system.

How do I clean my lines when they do need cleaning?

Just the same way as you always have. We recommend good quality cleaning products and a thorough approach, plus a deep clean once every 6-12 months.

Do we need to use a special beer line cleaner?

No, but we do recommend using a good quality line cleaner. Often the economies of using cheap line cleaner are false – you need to use more of it, more frequently and the chemicals used may be aggressive, but ineffective without some of the different ingredients and additives used in the better quality products.

Do we turn the StayClean system off when we are cleaning our lines?

StayClean devices run 24 hours a day and you don’t need to switch them off for anything – you can even carry on serving whilst the system is installed.

Do you need to remove or replace any parts of the cellar set-up when installing a StayClean system?

No, StayClean systems fit around all of your existing cellar equipment. Nothing is disconnected, moved or interfered with whilst our technicians carry out the installation.

Will our cellar set-up and layout need to be altered?

StayClean is installed around your existing equipment, so there will be no alterations required.

Can I still serve if there’s a problem with the StayClean system?

Yes. If necessary, you can go back to more frequent line cleans. If there is a significant problem, we would aim to have one of technicians with you within 48 hours.

What are bio-films and how do they affect our beer lines?

Bio-films are formed by a build-up of yeasts, sugars and proteins in the beer which adhere to the inner surface of the beer line. As time passes, additional clumps of yeasts, proteins and sugars bond to the initial bio-film, increasing the build-up and ultimately choking the beer line – although it’s highly likely that the flavour and pour of the beer will be sufficiently affected so that the problems with the lines are identified before there’s a complete blockage.

The bar is not open every day – is it worth installing a StayClean system?

StayClean devices run 24 hours a day, constantly working to delay the build-up of bio-films and pollutants that taint the flavour of your beer. Even when the beer isn’t being drawn through the lines, the action of the device will continue to work and therefore, even if the bar doesn’t open every day, the StayClean system will be reducing your beer waste.

We have 2 bars – one is just for functions – should we fit out the lines for both bars?

Yes, fit out both bars to maximise your savings. With anything over a pint in the line, your daily bar will achieve good savings by reducing the frequency of line cleans. Similarly, even if your 2nd bar is only used for events, running a StayClean system will cut the cleaning frequency of the lines, reducing your wastage and cleaning costs, as well as reducing your ‘set-up’ time for functions.

If both bars are using split lines from the same kegs you’re on to a winner, as we treat at the keg, not the individual line to the bar. This means that both bars will be treated at the same time by the same system.

What are the longest beer lines you can treat?

Whilst they’re rare, we have installed the system on some really long lines. The longest, in a cellar at a prestigious golf course, contain approximately 14 pints between the keg and the tap. Imagine how much they were wasting on weekly cleans!

Does StayClean treat cask ale lines?

Yes

Are you associated to Heineken Smart Dispense?

No, we’re not.

Are you associated to Carlsberg Quality Dispense System (CQDS)?

No, we’re not.

How much???
£96 for a pint and a half.
If this was draught, their waste costs would make 'em cry!

Apparently supply is finite - at just shy of £100 for 750cl, you'd think it would be demand.
